Oliver had 40 years experience in research, development, engineering, management and sales in the packaging industry. He was educated at Phoenix (AZ) Union High School, Fullerton (CA) College, and has taken special courses at UCLA, University of Michigan and elsewhere. He held a professional engineer's license (mechanical engineering) in the state of California. He has been issued 25 patents for his inventions.
He served in the U.S. Marines from 1944-1946 and saw action in Okinawa, Siapan and occupation duty in China. He was employed by Douglas Aircraft Co. from 1939 to 1947, St. Regis Paper Co. from 1947 to 1965 and Dow Chemical Co. from 1965 to 1970. In 1971 he was co-founder of Basic Packaging Systems, Inc. of which he was Executive Vice President and Director. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers adn the Packaging Institute. He has been listed in Who's Who in the Midwest since 1979.
Interested in family history, Oliver has written a Titchenal family history with many interesting details entitled 350 Years of Faith and Hope and Family Life in America. The geneology and history of thirteen generations of the Tichenor and Tichenal families coupled with American and local history.
